WALE ONAOLAPO, CHAIRMAN DAVISTHER BROKERS LTD BURIES MUM IN GRAND STYLE

‘’I have fought a good fight; I have finished my course. I have kept the faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge shall give me at that day and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing (1 Timothy 4 v 7-8).’’

These words of Timothy the apostles in the new testament of the Holy Scriptures can also be applied to late Madam Abike Aderemi Ona-Olapo-Oladimeji (Nee Apara) from Ijeshaland who got married to an Ibadan man as she began her journey home on Thursday, July 29,2016 with a service of songs for her was conducted in Ilesa at the Jehovah Nissi African Church Cathedral which was Mama's Church all through her life in Ilesa while the Wake Keeping Service was conducted in her house at Progressive Estate in Ibadan.

It eulogises galore for exemplary life both as a mother, a moulder, motivator, wife, lover of all irrespective of tribe or race, a person who devoted all her life to the service of God and men also, at the Adeyinka Adegbite Memorial Anglican Church where the burial service was held, at the church’s cemetery along Eruwa road and the reception at the Jogor Centre Obafemi Awolowo Stadium Road, on Friday july29, 2016 and the celebration of her exemplary life continued to flow and flow.

Born to late Pa Joshua Babalola Apara and Princess Esther Osunfunke Apara (Nee Agunlejika), both indigenes of Ilesa in Osun state, she was a pupil teacher in various places in the state and later became a business woman selling kolanuts which took her to northern parts of Nigeria.

In all this she did not allow anything in family when she got married to late Pa Alimi Onaolapo Oladimeji to disturb her service before God even as she was an untiring prayer warrior. Although a member of the Anglican Church, she had to worship in Christ African church, Jebba because she could not find any in the area. So, rather than not going to church, she chose to be going to the African Church.

According to Rt. Reverend J.A Ajetunmobi, late Mama Abigail Abike Aderemi Onaolapo-Oladimeji was rare Christian at a time when the faith of many has become lukewarm or none existent when some men of God are looking for what to eat than win souls for Christ. Man obeyed the commandments and the word of God. She was an ardent church attendant. At a point told mama not to come to church again that we were going to be administering the Holy Communion to her at home because of her old age. Her way of life is worthy of emulation she was like a saint because she had served god faithfully.

One of her sons, Wale Onaolapo said the experience and unique love of mama would be surely missed. To him, mama is generous, a unifying factor, a disciplinarian, a good teacher both in modern education and the teaching of the word of God who converted many for the Lord Jesus while alive.

Others such as Mrs Margret Olanike Onaolapo- Egunjobi, Chief (Mrs) Idowu Onaolapo Omoloye, Oluwa seyi Roland Smith, children, relatives and the cream-de-la-cream of the society at the ceremony were also full of praises for mama.

Assorted drinks, food and side attractions like comedy strip by TAYE OBAMA Red carpet and Yinka James popularly known as Adonai was powerfully there to entertain guests.

Before meeting the Saints triumphant she was:

  1. Member Morning Star Society

  2. Life Member of the Bible Society of Nigeria

  3. Representative of the church to CAN

  4. One of the choir Ambassador of the Cathedral Church

  5. Once a Bible Study teacher.

Mama was blessed with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Good by great mother, mentor and moulder.

My mother, a mother in a million – Wale Onaolapo

Late Madam Abigail Abike Onaolapo has been described as a mother in a million whose contribution to the success of the lives of her children would be very hard to beat.

Mr. Wale Onaolapo made this eulogy after the burial service of his mother at the Adeyinka Adegbite Memorial Anglican Church, Ibadan South Diocese, Oluyole Estate, Ibadan, Oyo state capital.

According to him, ‘’I am yet to come to terms with fact that you had taken your final flight to heaven and words would not be sufficient to describe the impact of your generous and loving heart’’

Mr .Onaolapo while describing his mother as ‘’a mother in a million’’ said he would also not forget her fair and disciplined posture when it comes to personal conduct. He opined that this virtue must have been influenced by Madam Onaolapo-Oladimeji’s vocation as a teacher earlier in life.

Most especially, however, Onaolapo said what he would forever cherish was the Bible principles inculcated in him by his late mother and the Yoruba bible she gave to him which led to his giving his life to Christ.

‘’I remember the gift of the Yoruba bible to me shortly after the demise of papa and the tutorial you provided on how to make effective use of the scripture which ultimately paved the way for my conversion of Christianity’’.
