Oyo State Govt Seals Shoprite * As Shoppers stranded

All is not well for management of Shoprite stores as Oyo State government ordered the seal-off of the two branches of the stores in Ibadan which left shoppers stranded.

The stores which are situated in Heritage Mall, Dugbe and Palm Mall in Ring Road area of the metropolitan were under lock and key as early as 10 am on Thursday and shoppers were seen milling the premises.

Glitter news reporters who paid visit to both stores gathered that Government official came with sealing ordered to effects the closure of both stores and drive early morning shoppers away.

Glitter news scooped that the main reason for the sealing of both stores was the rancour between the State Government and the management of the stores over taxation.

A shopper identified himself as Pelumi Ajayi said, he was amazed when he got to Shoprite and realised that it was sealed by the Oyo government.

According to him “I have been here for more than an hour and we were unable to go inside as the place was sealed. I don’t know the cause of this but I guess maybe because of tax or not.

Efforts by our reporters hear the Shoprite stores management side was abortive as call make to the manager of Ring Road branch was not answered.
