Why my inauguration will not be holding tomorrow - Akin Alabi

Akin Alabi, elect-member of House ,Representatives has given the reason why his inauguration would not hold tomorrow.

According to him "National Assembly inauguration cannot be held on the same day as the presidential inauguration."

"The simple reason is that the president has to be sworn in first. After his swearing in, he will write a proclamation letter ordering the inauguration of the National Assembly."

"This is usually done about between 7 to 14 days after the presidential inauguration."

"Also, the 8th Assembly was inaugurated on June 9, 2015 which means it will run its course till June 9, 2019. A new Assembly can now be inaugurated on that day, the next or day after.

A lot of dates are being thrown around, June 10 and 11, 2019 being the most prominent. They are all “unofficial” until Mr President writes his proclamation letter." he stated
