Virgin Mary statue 'cries BLOOD' in Bolivia • Watch the mysterious video
Worshippers at a rural church were stunned to see the statue of the Virgin Mary weep blood as they prayed.
The congregation have declared the incident a miracle at the remote venue in in the Manuripi-Heath Amazonian Wildlife National Reserve in the Pando Department in Bolivia.
Local priest Jose Luis Mamani has announced that the church's statue of Christ's mother is bleeding from its eyes and hands.
Samples of the red substance have been taken to medics at the local hospital to find out if it is human blood.
According to church-goers, the statue began weeping blood a week ago.
The statue has been crying blood for a number of weeks according to worshippers
A photograph taken by one worshipper shows red stains running down the statue's left cheek and through her fingers, clasped in prayer.
Just three months ago, hundreds of pilgrims flocked to a small town in Colombia to see a statue of the Virgin Mary which had cried a single tear of blood.
One worshipper Ana Cristina Jimenez said: "I saw that the Virgin had a tear of blood. I was surprised. I felt joyful, sad... everything!"
It remains to be seen whether or not the Vatican will endorse the weeping statue as a miracle.
"Only a very small number of similar occurrences have been accepted by the Church’s highest authorities as valid miracles, with numerous others proven to be hoaxes.
