We are committed to turn things around- Prof. Yemi Osinbajo
The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has reiterated that President Muhammadu Buhari led administration are committed to turn things around for better in the country. Professor Osinbajo, who was represented by Senator Babafemi Ojudu stated this during the All Progressives Congress (APC) South West Conference held at the Premier Hotel in Ibadan..
He disclosed, in his goodwill message titled "A Glorious Dawn Beckon" that the time has come for the people in the country to feel the real impact of change of the Buhari's led government.
According to him, "Nigeria's dawn is about to break! We are determined to turn things around, so that once more, our people will begin to feel the impact of government in their lives."
The Vice President acknowledged that President Buhari also feels the pains and sufferings people are going through, however, reassured that the glorious days are around the corner.
"The current pains and sufferings that our people are feeling today are the results of yesterday's mismanagement of the commonwealth of our great country. Every day, as I travel round the country to meet the people, I see on their faces evidence of the pains and trauma they are going through.
Prof. Osinbajo pointed out why it is necessary to change our old ways of doing things in order for us to have a better result, he said that the beginning may appear to be difficult but in the end it will be a thing of joy.
He opined that the efforts have been put in place to ensure that fuel scarcity becomes a thing of the past because many investors have been given chance to build refineries, while the government has invested heavily in agriculture to ensure sustainability and self-reliance of food production for the benefit of the people.
Professor Osinbajo also disclosed that 500 billion naira Social Intervention Fund has been created by government to take care of the less privileged people and institutionalized our social security scheme. He therefore, urged the party leaders across the South West to continue to give their unalloyed support to the Buhari led government.
In his goodwill message, APC National Chairman, John Odigie Oyegun, ably represented by the National Deputy Chairman, Segun Oni disclosed that since the inception of the present administration in the country, government has been recorded series of achievements particularly in the areas of fight against corruption and insecurity.
He said that President Buhari has set machinery in motion to ensure that enabling environment is created for easy access to diversify our economy.
Oyegun, therefore, promised that proper consideration would be given to whatever recommendations put together by the conference at the national headquarters in Abuja.
