Terrifying moment boy as young as 12 was stripped of suicide belt on his way to kill

A boy as young as 12 has been stripped of his suicide belt and arrested in dramatic scenes moments before it was about to be detonated.

The boy, who police have said was 12 or 13, cried as he was stopped by police in Kirkuk, Iraq, less than 24 hours after another child bomber killed 51 people at a wedding party in Turkey.

It is believed their bombs may have been controlled remotely by members of Isis.

The boy is believed to have been on his way to blow himself up at a Shia mosque but the belt was detonated safely.

The boy was unharmed as he was taken into custody by police according to Kurdish media group Rudaw.

A security official said: ‘There is a dangerous campaign tonight against Kirkuk.’
