Ex-England footballer Adam Johnson jailed for child sex offences is earning around £5,000 a week while he sits behind bars.
Before starting his six-year sentence, the millionaire invested his fortune into property and high-interest funds, reports Daily Star.

Johnson, who used to earn around £60,000 a week playing for Premiere League Sunderland, will still be bagging around £250,000 a year.
A source said the 29-year-old had a good team of financial advisers behind him and will be ‘extremely wealthy when he is freed’.
‘He had the big footballer house and the cars but he’s never been really super-flamboyant with his cash,’ they said.

He was jailed in March for grooming and sexual activity with a 15-year-old schoolgirl.
His ex-girlfriend Stacey Flounders was pictured clubbing in Dubai in May, it has been speculated she recently moved back into their home amid reconciliation rumours.
Johnson’s parents and sister are believed to visit him regularly.
