Mariah Carey 'demanding over £40 million from ex-fiance as compensation'
Mariah Carey is reportedly demanding $50 million (£41 million) from her ex-fiance James Packer claiming he owes her the money because she ‘uprooted her entire life’ for him and his children.
The American diva and James split this week with friends close to the pair revealing that it was ‘all over’ because James was not happy with her reality TV show Mariah’s World and her decision to expose their lives to her fans.
But as more details emerge it is thought that Mariah has been left unhappy and wants compensation, with an insider alleging that James made her ‘move from New York to LA, uprooting her entire life, so he could be near his kids’, and that an incident involving her assistant left Mariah ‘traumatised’.
The Australian billionaire asked the singer to be his wife during a private dinner in New York on Thursday (21Jan16), which was also attended by her closest friends.
The couple has been dating since June (15) and spent much of last summer touring around Europe and the Middle East on Packer's luxury yacht. Both Carey, 45, and Packer, 48, have been married before - the singer was previously wed to music executive Tommy Mottola and actor/entrepreneur Nick Cannon, while Packer divorced model and singer Erica Baxter in 2013. Mariah has twins from her marriage to Cannon, while her new fiance has three young children with his ex-wife.
