Donald Trump named Time magazine’s Person of the Year

Donald Trump has been named Time magazine’s Person of the Year.

The president-elect’s selection was announced on today on NBC’s Today show.

Responding to the news via phone-in on the show, Trump said: ‘It’s a great honour. It means a lot.’

Trump, a highly controversial real estate magnate, began as an outsider in the presidential race last year, but ended up winning the White House over Democrat Clinton.

He won the Electoral College vote, although Clinton won the popular vote by at least two million votes.

Because of this, as well as several alleged discrepancies at counting stations, there are currently several challenges to his presidency being launched. Green Party candidate Jill Stein raised enough money to call for a vote recount at three key states, while many are urging electoral college figures to reject Trump’s election.
