Drake Criticise Grammys - Says he ‘doesn’t even want’ Awards and ‘feels weird’ about winning

Drake has criticised the Grammy’s saying he ‘feels weird’ about the two awards he received at the ceremony earlier this month and ‘doesn’t even want them’. The Canadian rapper, singer and producer said he had turned down an offer from the Grammys to cancel two of his London shows to attend the ceremony. He criticised the awards for putting his song ‘Hotline Bling’, which won Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Song Performance, in the wrong category during an interview with DJ Semtex on his OVO Sound radio show on Beats 1. The One Dance singer said: ‘Even though Hotline Bling is not a rap song … the only category they can manage to fit me in is a rap category.’ ‘Maybe because I’ve rapped in the past or because I’m black, I can’t figure out why. I won two awards last night – but I don’t even want them, because it feels weird for some reason.’ After the awards, fans took to Twitter to express their confusion about Drake winning the award for Best Rap Song despite it not featuring any rap.

The artist also spoke about his decision to turn down the invitation to the ceremony to perform on his tour instead. He said: ‘We’ve been conditioned to think that this is the true award for our accomplishments. ‘All I’m saying is, to kids that will be coming up in the future that might not get championed: that’s okay too. You’re dealing with a bunch of people that are just people, at the end of the day.’ The singer was performing at the Manchester Arena on the night of the awards ceremony and was one of a number of artists, including Kanye and Justin Bieber, not ttending the ceremony.
