Chris Brown fan fined £5,000 for playing song on repeat
A hip-hop fan was hit with a £5,000 fine after he repeatedly played a Chris Brown song at deafening volume. Mandu Ukpong from Harrow, north west London, was visited by council workers following several complaints that he was blaring out expletive-ridden hit ‘Loyal’ at all hours. Some neighbours claimed that they were forced to sleep in their living room to escape the bass from the speakers. And when environmental health officers from Harrow council arrived at the door, they heard what all of the fuss was about. Despite knocking loudly on the door, Ukpong did not answer. According to the Standard, officers returned later that evening with a court warrant to seize the equipment. The music fan had a history of complaints against him regarding noise emanating from his flat. When Mr Ukpong appeared in Willesden Magistrates’ Court, he said that his life had been made a ‘living hell’ by the sound of stomping feet from his upstairs neighbours. However he was fined £2,000 for breaching a Noise Abatement Notice, ordered to pay £2,975 in costs and issued with a £100 victim surcharge.
