This year International Women's Day was a special and honour day for Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Sybil Funmilayo Akinfenwa, as "SAY NO TO CHILD ABUSE" team honoured her with a prestigious award for her outstanding motherly relationship with youth. Ajibola Oludotun, Abiodun Adeniyi and Wale Awe had a brief chat with the well respected Senior Police Officer. Enjoy: HOW DO YOU FEEL ADDING THIS AWARD TO THE LIST OF MULTIPLE AWARDS IN YOUR CABINET? First of all its my pleasure and I feel great and honour to have a youth organisation to present me an award and each time I receives an award, I always feel challenging and my spirit always remind me that people are watching me. This shows that I must not relent in my effort in taking police force to a greater height. INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY WAS CELEBRATED THIS WEEK, AS A MOTHER, CAN YOU PLEASE TELL US THE ROLE OF A GOOD WOMAN? A good woman is a mother, Motivator, supporter and home builder as we all know that women are the architect of every home. YOU ARE ONE OF THE PHD HOLDERS IN THE NIGERIAN POLICE FORCE, PLEASE TELL US HOW YOU MANAGE TO ACHIEVE THIS FEAT? Although, police is a busy job. But despite this,it doesnt stop you to develop yourself, you know as an officer, you are dealing with different set of people and this alone require you to be on top of situation everytime . We are dealing with different categories of people, so as a police officer you must acquire knowledge in order to handle some peculiar issues . A police has to be sound and well informed. I thank the Inspector General of Police for making my dream a reality. HOW DO YOU THINK WE CAN STOP CHILD ABUSE IN NIGERIA ? Stopping child abuse in Nigeria need holistic strategies because of our culture and norms in Africa. Imaging a parent who send his or her child hawking with the aims of meeting earn meet without considering the factors that will affect this child. My own point of view is that, to stop child Abuse in Nigeria, government needs to get fully involve by orientating the member of the public and making some effective law and penalties for the offenders.
