Wole Soyinka to relocate to South Africa after Joining University of Jonnersburg as a Distinguished
Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka is expected to join the University of Johannesburg as Distinguished visiting professor and relocated to the Mandela’s country.
The purpose of his relocation is to guide the fraught national debate on “the decolonization and the africanization of kwoledge” in South Africa’s Eurocentric higher education system.
The 83 year old spent 20 years in United States as a scholar in residence at New York University’s Institute of African Affairs until Trump assumed power.
It would be recalled that after Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election, Soyinka tored his green card and moved out of the country.
The professor plans to relocate to South Africa, a country also struggling with the treatment of foreigners especially Africans.
