Oyo Govt, Agencies Seek Support For Routine Immunisation
The Oyo State government has urged parents to cooperate with health workers in maximum capacity to eradicate preventable diseases caused by the lack of complete or non vaccination of children.
This statement was made by Acting executive Secretary :State Primary Health Care Board,Dr. Waheed Lanre Abass during the one day sensitization meeting with the stake holders on immunization which was held in Ibadan recently.
While welcoming participants to the one day event ,Mr.Alabi, represented by Dr. Abass also hinted that the government and the relevant stake holders are fully ready to tackle the syndrome and that heath workers has been adequately trained and empowered to ensure the exercise become successful.
Dr. Ada Erinle who delivered the message of the Regional Director of World Health Organization, Dr. Matshidiso Moeti disclosed that vaccines provide benefits beyond health outcomes.
She also added that the exercise since the last edition in2016 has dramatically improved in the African region covering 17 million in 26 African countries. She however stated that this is the time for our political and community leaders to lead us into days when no one dies of vaccines preventable disease. "This is the time to reinforce to our political and community leaders their role to lead us to a day when no one dies of vaccines preventable ailments".
Dr. Olaolotiti Lawal who spoke on behalf of UNICEF at the event while seeking for the collaboration of more individuals and groups to improve the routine immunisation by making commitment that will yield significant result also called on the health personnels to have the fear of God in delivering their duties .
The programme was well attended by civil societies,the media,security agencies,religious leaders ,community leaders and local government council representatives across the state.
