BONUS! Chelsea players to share £5million for winning Premier League
Michy Batshuayi’s late strike against West Bromwich Albion secured Chelsea a first Premier League title under Antonio Conte on a historic night for the club.
The Belgian international, who has been a bit-part player this season, came off the bench to score his first league goal since August to end Tottenham Hotspur’s title challenge and ensure that Conte’s first season in charge ended with the ultimate domestic prize.
While the squad will undoubtedly have been entirely focused on the glory of lifting the title alone, the players will enjoy the added bonus of some financial rewards.
The first-team squad will see £5million shared around them after winning the Premier League for the second time in three seasons.
After Roman Abramovich sanctioned the £5m bonus last summer, the pot will now be shared among the stars, with greater rewards for those who have made the most appearances.
However, 10% of the fund has been put aside for players who have been unused substitutes or non-travelling squad members to ensure everyone reaps the benefits of their glorious triumph.
