JUST IN: Oyo Assembly extends tenure of Council Chairmen for 4 months

Oyo state House of Assembly has extended the tenure of local government caretaker chairmen in the state by four months.

This was announced by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon Michael Adeyemo during the House Plenary today.

The development came up in view of the matter in Oyo zone which is still pending in court.

Speaker said extension of the tenure of the Caretaker Chairmen was the only option left since this matter is still in court adding that the case has been adjourned to October this year.

He said the issue also has to do with land dispute in between some local government in the state and neighbouring state.
