Amuwo Odofin LG Boss Holds First Security Council Meeting
With his 21 days in office as the newly elected Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State, Comrade Valentine Buraimoh has started on a sound footing as he chaired the peace and security meeting at the Council Secretariat, Festac Town, recently.
In a statement made available to journalists yesterday, Comrade Kola Folorunso, the Chief Press Secretary to the former Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Comrade Ayodele Adewale, the newly elected council chairman, Comrade Valentine Buraimoh said the meeting was called to get reports from all security agencies, with a view to addressing it.
The meeting also looked at the black spots, bad roads, blocked drainages and other security challenges in the community.
According to Comrade Valentine: “ the current security situation in the country is precarious. We have to put all proactive and workable measures to combat any form of unseen security breach.”
He beaconed on all to make it a point of duty to regularly intimate all the relevant security operatives of any suspicious character in their domain. The local government boss also constituted a strategic committee to look into issues of security and environmental black spots.
The committee is headed by a former Chairman of the Local Government, Prince Rasheed Otolorin. Members are drawn from the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC), DSS, the Legal Officer of the Local Government and the Chief Security Officer of the Local Government.
The immediate past Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Comrade Ayodele Adewale opined that Amuwo Odofin Local Government is very strategic and viable for business opportunities, adding that all hands must be on deck to eradicate threats to safety of persons and property.
The peace and security council meeting was attended by security Agencies, past Chairmen of the Local Government, religious leaders, President of the Festac Town Residents Association, and Community Development Committee.
Meanwhile, Comrade Valentine Buraimoh has taken a step further on maintenance of a cleaner environment in Amuwo Odofin Local Government and reiterated his administration’s determination to pursue the vision of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on environmental sanitation with passion by making the Amuwo Odofin environment cleaner, safer and healthier for inhabitants.
He said his dream had always been to positively affect the community he governs, and that his commitment to follow it through is unwavering.
The council boss stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to Vision Scape; an environmental utility group appointed as partner by the State Government to implement the new environmental policy encapsulated in the Cleaner Lagos Initiative (CLI.)
Comrade Buraimoh noted that “from my discussion with them and their presentation, I am satisfied with the giant strides Vision Scape is taking in ensuring that Lagos State is free from environmental hazards. We are going to partner with the company by providing necessary back up and strategic intervention in removing the refuse on our roads and streets.”
The Chief Operations Officer of the Company, Mr. Thomas Forgacs averred that they are delighted to have met an enterprising and energetic individual, who showed a strong will to rid his community of refuse.
Fogacs said Vision Scape is ready to partner with Amuwo Odofin Local Government and the council will be the pilot Local Government Area when they kick start fully.
