Anthony Joshua backs Floyd Mayweather to beat McGregor
Floyd Mayweather will beat Conor McGregor this weekend, predicts heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua.
This weekend’s fight in Las Vegas is arguably the most anticipated bout of the century – and certainly the most since Mayweather fought Manny Pacquiao in 2015.
The meeting between the undefeated boxing legend and the star of the UFC has caught the imagination, so much so it could become the richest fight in history.
With everyone eagerly waiting to see who comes out on top, Joshua has backed Mayweather to emerge victorious for the very simple reason that the American has never tasted defeat.
‘Everyone does [have a chance of winning], that’s what makes sports interesting, that’s why people are watching,’ Joshua exclusively told Metro.co.uk ahead of the launch of Destiny 2.
‘There has to be one winner and one loser but if I was a betting man my money is on Mayweather because he’s never lost!
‘I don’t think he’s about to start now. He’s too experienced.’
Joshua has suggested he himself could take on an MMA fighter in the future, saying: ‘Mayweather is setting a trend and opening up the gates for people like myself. I think it can definitely happen.’
You can see what he had to tell Metro.co.uk in the video below, in which he also explains why right now he would pick fighting in Cardiff over Las Vegas.
