Alvaro Morata speaks about Antonio Conte’s brutal Chelsea training

Alvaro Morata has revealed Antonio Conte’s training sessions are so intense that he is often forced to take afternoon naps that wipe out entire afternoons.

The Spain international has made an encouraging start to his Premier League career following his club-record £58million move from Real Madrid in the summer.

Morata scored the winning goal in Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Manchester United, taking his tally to eight in all competitions, and he believes he is benefiting from Conte’s relentless demands.

Asked about the effects of Conte’s training methods, Morata explained: ‘You arrive home [after training] and a nap is necessary. The problem is that you take a nap and you’ve lost your day.

‘You wake up and it seems that you’ve already lost the day because it’s already night.’

Morata came face-to-face with his former manager Jose Mourinho last Sunday having rejected the chance to sign for his Manchester United side in the summer.
