Salah breaks Torres Liverpool record with Watford goal
Mohamed Salah’s sensational debut season at Liverpool shows no sign of slowing up after the Egypt international gave a first half masterclass against Watford. With Harry Kane injured for at least a month, Salah is now the odds-on favourite to win the Golden Boot and advanced his cause with two more goals in what is turning out to be an increasingly prolific season. Salah took just four minutes to break the deadlock, drawing comparisons with Lionel Messi by destroying Miguel Britos and firing home from a narrow angle. The 25-year-old doubled Liverpool’s advantage two minutes before the break, tucking home from inside the six-yard box after he had been supplied with an unmissable chance courtesy of Andrew Robertson’s pinpoint cross. Salah now has 34 goals for the season in all competitions and has scored more goals than any other Liverpool player in their debut season at the club, surpassing Fernando Torres’ haul of 32 during his maiden campaign exactly a decade ago.
