Anti-Government: Riot police fire tear gas as protesters march towards French presidential palace
Paris police have fired tear gas and arrested hundreds after protesters tried to march on the presidential palace.
Police and army forces have surrounded the palace, amid reports that demonstrators will attempt to break the police siege there.
Around 350 people were arrested ahead of the latest wave of anti-government protests in the French capital.
Shops and tourist attractions have been closed and 89,000 security officers deployed across the country. Many of those arrested were reportedly carrying a range of potential weapons, including gas cannisters, flash ball guns and baseball bats.
